久しぶりに買い物に行って、その変貌ぶりに驚いた大阪日本橋の「黒門市場」。
平日の午後だったが、お客さんの7～8割くらいは見たところ海外のお客さんでにぎわっていた。
高松塚古墳やキトラ古墳の棺の上に描かれていた、あの「四神」。
通りには「インフォメーションセンター」までできていて、両替やWi-Fiサービスもしっかり備えている。外国人の要望にちゃんと向き合っている。
自販機のイラストは北斎で、そこに英語と中国語のセールス言葉。
今や世界的に有名になった「ガチャガチャ」のお土産。
がちゃがちゃもできれば外国語にしてはどうかと思う。
驚いたのは神戸ビーフ１００％のハンバーガーがなんと￥3680～。この看板の勢いからしてきっと売れているのだろう。
円安を思い知らされたような感じがした。
しかも、近くには用意周到に両替機まで設置されている。
これほど商魂たくましく、徹底して外国のお客さん向けに工夫した努力に感心した。
同時に、皮肉を言えば、「アベノミクス」なるものの結末の一端がここにあるのかもしれないと思うと、もろ手を挙げて喜んでもいられないような、複雑な感慨を持った。
２００年の歴史を誇る市場だそうだが、21世紀になってこんな姿を現出するとは、きっと前代未聞の展開だろう。
私たち貧しい日本人客は端っこを歩きながら眺めている。

Even on weekdays, over 70-80% of the customers are seems from overseas.
The Kobe beef burger is priced at a whopping 3,680 yen, and seems to be selling well due to the weak yen. There is even a money exchange machine installed here.
We poor Japanese people walk on the edge of the steet.
